Many people would agree that the majority of York’s residents are relatively well off. Even so, we must plan for the future and the important challenges facing the city.
We want to make sure that everyone can share in York’s successes, especially those living in deprived neighbourhoods or who are disadvantaged in some way. We need to be certain that growth of the city will not spoil York's special qualities and that we reduce our impact on the environment. We have to plan for enough houses that people can afford, improve transport and promote alternatives to car travel.
‘Without Walls’ is a group of people working together to improve the quality of life for people in the city. Our plans cover a number of issues across the city, so have a look around this website to find out more.
The partnership is made up of representatives of public, voluntary and business organisations in York. Without Walls has identified the issues that are of most concern to local people and produced a plan to shape the future of the city. The plan is called the Sustainable Community Strategy and it is available to download from this page, along with a shorter summary version.
